--- abstract: "Complex modern applications have to be developed to be dependable to meet their requirements and expectations of their users. An important part of this is their ability to deal with various threats (such as faults in the system environment, operator's mistakes, underlying hardware and software support problems). Development of modern applications is complicated by the need for systematic and rigorous integration of fault tolerance measures. The paper focuses on reuse of fault tolerance modelling. First, it introduces the idea of general modelling templates reflecting abstract views on system behaviour with respect to faults. These templates are used during system detalisation (refinement) to capture the user's view on system external behaviour. Secondly, it proposes to use a library of concrete modelling patterns allowing developers to systematically integrate specic fault tolerance mechanisms (e.g. recovery blocks, checkpoints, exception handling) into the models. The proposed solutions are linked to the Event-B method and demonstrated using a case study." accompaniment: [] book_title: ~ commentary: ~ completion_time: ~ composition_type: ~ conductors_id: [] conductors_name: [] contact_email: ~ copyright_holders: [] corp_creators: [] creators_id: - Ilya.Lopatkin@newcastle.ac.uk - '"Alexei Iliasov" ' - alexander.romanovsky@ncl.ac.uk creators_name: - family: Lopatkin given: Ilya honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Iliasov given: Alexei honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Romanovsky given: Alexander honourific: '' lineage: '' data_type: ~ date: 2010 date_type: published datestamp: 2010-11-12 08:53:11 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/02/53 divisions: [] edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: 0 edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: [] eprint_status: archive eprintid: 253 event_dates: 'April 13-16, 2010' event_location: 'Birkbeck College (London, United Kingdom)' event_title: 2nd International Workshop on Software Engineering for Resilient Systems event_type: workshop exhibitors_id: [] exhibitors_name: [] fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/253/1/serene2010paper.pdf full_text_status: public funders: [] id_number: ~ importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: ~ lastmod: 2010-11-12 08:53:11 latitude: ~ learning_level: ~ longitude: ~ lyricists_id: [] lyricists_name: [] metadata_visibility: show monograph_type: ~ note: ~ num_pieces: ~ number: ~ official_url: ~ output_media: ~ pagerange: ~ pages: ~ patent_applicant: ~ pedagogic_type: ~ place_of_pub: ~ pres_type: paper producers_id: [] producers_name: [] projects: [] publication: ~ publisher: ~ refereed: TRUE referencetext: ~ related_url_type: [] related_url_url: [] relation_type: [] relation_uri: [] rev_number: 23 series: ~ skill_areas: [] source: ~ status_changed: 2010-11-12 08:53:11 subjects: - Event-Bsemantics - deploy_method - deploy_tooldev succeeds: ~ suggestions: ~ sword_depositor: ~ sword_slug: ~ task_purpose: ~ thesis_type: ~ title: On Fault Tolerance Reuse during Refinement type: conference_item userid: 148 volume: ~
